My Art
In the beginning I was concerned mainly with the properties and technique of the watercolour medium. As my pile of rejected attempts grew higher, as I kept repeating the process of applying paint to paper, I began to realize that creating art is more spiritual than physical. Also I was discovering watercolour to be the perfect medium for expressing the magic of spirit. This was when I began to really embrace my passion and I was finding the illusive, translucent, wild, flowing characteristics of watercolour to be the way to go. It continues to be an exciting journey.
I believe each creative act is a product of the present moment so I choose to live fully in the now. Each moment is a unique experience and being must come before doing. Meditation is a prerequisite to my painting. From inner stillness I view the subject at hand, which may be as simple as the way light moves across a landscape, and I draw from the source deep within where I am spiritually guided. This results in uncluttered perception enabling me to merge the subject with my personal emotion and feeling.
I paint for the sheer joy of the process. The end result is not my main concern. With a quiet mind I open myself to the subject or vision and allow the painting to emerge. Each painting is a special, unique creation of a special, unique moment. I find that humbling and very awesome.
